Question by everfalling: What’s the legality of dumpster diving at construction sites?
do they recycle their metal scrap or throw it away? should i even bother asking the site manager or should i just come in at night and try to haul the stuff over the fence?

if i do ask, are there any suggestions on what to say to get the site manager to let me root through their dumpsters?

It’s best to ask because most dumpsters are located on private property. Don’t be surprised if they say no because if someone is injured then they could possibly be liable because it’s on their property.

Umm, i’m not sure if you would want to reveal that over the internet…because it is…..what is the word? Oh yeah F****ing disgusting!! What if someone decided to take a huge giant steamy load right in the dumpster and you went through that?? You are nasty dude.

I would say illegal, it is very dangerous to dumpster dive. Some people have actually been crushed inside of garbage trucks, when a dumpster was being emptied.

You are describing trespassing and theft. Don’t do it.
