Question by riddick021: How many tons in a 20 yard dumpster packed tight with drywall?
I want to know if I got a decent deal on someone hauling away some drywall for me. How much would a 20 yard dumpster weigh if it was filled to the top with small pieces of well packed drywall?

10 tons roughly
Average sheet of drywall is (4X8) and it weighs 57.6 pounds
If they were all standing upright and assuming the height of the dumpster is 8 ft. you could fit approx. 360 sheets of 1/2 drywall into the bin end to end. That would be 20,736 pounds US and there is 2240 pounds in a gross ton. It would also depend on the wight of the joint tape, mud/texture and nails associated with old drywall.
